With more than 3 million visitors in 2013, the tourism is not one of the main sources of funds for the country, nevertheless represents an important economic sector and in progress since a few years.

 

Peru has an incredible potential with an exciting history, very varied landscapes and welcoming population. The famous Machu Picchu was declared one of the new seven wonders of the world in 2007 by an internet voting of 100 million people around the world. Other ones was the Great Wall of China, Petra in Jordan, Christ Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Chichen Itza in Mexico, Roman Colosseum in Rome and Taj Mahal in India.

 

Icing on the cake, Peru has been elected in 2012, 2013 and 2014 as "the Best culinary destination in the world" by the prestigious World Travel Awards Academy regarded as the Oscar of tourism.
